Weidi Zhang is an LA-based New Media Artist, Designer and Researcher. She is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of immersive experience design at the Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center of Arizona State University
Weidi creates ever-changing, multi-layered, immersive audio-visual experiences. Through her interdisciplinary art and design research, she investigates what she calls 'A Speculative Assemblage': the magical marriage of "immersive media design, experimental data visualization, and interactive AI art".
Weidi's works are featured in international awards, such as Best In Show Award in SIGGRAPH Art Gallery (2021&2022), Red Dot Design Award (2022), Honorary Mention in Prix Ars Electronica (2022), Japan Media Arts Festival (2020), Lumen Prize UK (2020&2021)
