Aisen Caro Chacin
Sensory Artist, Medical Device Researcher & Professor
Exploring the limits of sensory perception, human-machine relationships, and the philosophical implications of integrating medical devices into our bodies.
Aisen Caro Chacin is the Medical Prototyping Lead and Assistant Professor in Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
With a BFA from the University of Houston, an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons, and a PhD in Human Informatics from the University of Tsukuba, her work spans new media art, human-computer interfaces, and Assistive Device Art (ADA), focusing on areas like sound art, sensory substitution, human echolocation, haptics, and medical automation.
Artwork and research exhibited internationally and featured in publications:
Popular Science, FastCo, the New York Times, Ars Electronica, Cité du Design, the NYC Museum of Art and Design, and many others.
