Notes from 2025: Voices, Conversations, Futures
2025 was a year of technological innovation and excitement, but also one shaped by uncertainty and overwhelm across art, work, politics, ecology, and society at large. It feels important to pause and reflect with gratitude on what took shape at Femmes Designers.
This year, we welcomed new voices into the community, each bringing fresh perspectives and research that continue to expand how STEAM is understood and reinforce the value of interdisciplinary practice.
Angelina Kozhevnikova is a transdisciplinary artist, designer, and researcher working at the intersection of relational robotics, embodied intelligence, and systemic design. Through her studio Animaspace, she creates robotic installations, films, and participatory experiences that centre presence, co-agency, and material intelligence.
Yuhanxiao (Maggie) Ma is a research-driven multimedia artist whose work explores the intersection of speculative fiction, science, and ethics, exposing overlooked narratives and critically examining dominant assumptions about technological progress.
Eunsu Kang is an artist, researcher, and educator who explores the intersection of art and machine learning and the possibilities of creative AI.
Aisen Caro Chacin is the Medical Prototyping Lead and Assistant Professor in Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Her work spans new media art, human-computer interfaces, and Assistive Device Art (ADA), focusing on areas like sound art, sensory substitution, human echolocation, haptics, and medical automation.
We also shared a special blog interview with Yuhanxiao (Maggie) Ma, in which we discussed her work in reframing the present through her research and practice.
With Season 2 of The Art in STEAM podcast, we continued to open dialogue across art, technology, ecology, accessibility, learning, and immersion. Thank you to all the guest speakers who shared their research, artworks, and voices, and a special thank you to our external guests Katherine Moriwaki, Victoria Vesna, and Kascha Semonovitch for enriching these conversations.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to introduce new blog interviews, panel discussions, and podcast conversations. Stay tuned, and stay curious!
With love, Femmes Designers
